Default Once off Skill Scrolls

How about being able to have once off skill scrolls for any profession, lack of attributes apply? These could be bought and sold at the now virtually useless Scroll Trader. Have the ability to use a spell slot to load them into or even cast from the back pack. Also be able to gang them so you could have say Flare x5 on your bar and once finished the bar would have an empty slot.

Let me get this right....

Its a scroll that contains a specific skill?
Any profession can use it because skill points dont matter? (i.e a warrior could use an ele skills)
And you get one use out of it?
And you can equip it in your skill bar?

If ive understood that right....... WHAT?

When would that ever be usefull, or needed? (alot of question marks)

Who would anyone pay gold, for a skill they might never use and only get one shot at using! And would these skills be maxed out?

What if a lvl15 got his hands on a maxed out "Metoer shower" spell? Slight over-powerment, and questionable as to why he would want it.

I dont see a need or use for this. At all. You would be fundimentally putting a skill into one of your 8 slots, that you might NEVER use and can only use ONCE. Thats a complete waste of a skill bar.

But even if it was casterble from storage, its still a bit daft.

I could see this situaton happening.....

...You have Wammo with full warrior and monk skills. Hes rich beyond belief and goes out and buys 10 powerfull elemental scroll spells, and 10 powerfull mesma spells, and 5 powerfull necro spells.

The result is you have a warrior/monk/ele/mesma/necro who is extremely overpowered. He may only get one shot with each scroll, but if hes packing ALOT of scrolls, he can do alot of damage.

It would make solo-farming a breeze.

Anything that lets me get 8 [wiki]Mending[/wiki] spells on my skill bar without having to use Mesmer as my primary or secondary wins in my book.

GW is quite fixed to professions.
You can have only two at the same time this would be just as removing that limitation by paying some cash.

Maybe I'm over simplifying this a tad, but....

...take a monk who uses [wiki]Mending[/wiki] perhaps?

I find this suggestion a tad odd, because with using Heroes, you basically get what the OP is asking for. And you get your mending spell. If your wanting to use skills, which your primary and secondary doesnt provide, then equip a heroe and take them along. Its basically the same thing.

I may be playing a ranger/elementalist in Dunes of Despair and want a Consume Corpse to teleport with a couple Rebirths. If I have scroll spells in my backpack to do this then it would be quite cool. Sure I can get a necro/monk to help me but having that ability would give me added interesting things I could do. A mesmer has thievery spells to use other profession skills and when he does those spell become unlocked to him. It is another way to unlock spells without buying them even if that is random.

I made that mission extra making my character making my 2 of my heroes secondary necromancer (The third was Jurah).

Worked perfectly in my third try (scarabs didn't appeared until then.)

So...

I am suggesting this as something the virtually useless skill trader could do. As in D&D you could choose to learn the spell with a chance of failure. Really highly sought spells would be at a premium price. Lets face it this game runs on energy and money at the primaries with status a close third followed by builds.

Well, heretofore, ANet has shied away from things like potions, scrolls and other things that can be used in combat. But, this seems to have some balancing elements to it.

So, if I understand your suggestion:

1.) You'd buy or get a Skill Scroll as a drop.

2.) Let's say that you acquire the skill Scroll of Summon Bone Minion Rank 9

3.) You would place the scroll on your skill bar and leave the outpost.

4.) So, at an opportune time, as part of your strategy, you summon your Death Magic level 9 minions....muhahahaha! The scroll skill could be used once (or possibly 2-3 times) and then it would be grayed out.

Do, I have it right?

It seems an interesting concept and not overpowered.

Obviously, elite skills should not be available this way.

And, the player does lose the use of one slot after using the scroll until he/she goes back to the outpost.

So go as a ranger necro! Sorted! There is a reason you can change your secondary profession. To better suit the mission or quest your on.

The point of GWs it to choose your skills carefully.

If you need to teleport in DOD, then go as secondary necro.

Can you not understand how making spells and skills from others professions, outside of your primary and secondary is extremely overpowering.

As I said in my example, imagine this situation....

...a Warrior/monk who is extremely rich, buys 10 elemental scrolls, 10 necro scrolls and 10 mesma scrolls. These may have a one-off use, but your talking about giving a person an extra 30 skills, outside of his primary and secondary professions to use.

If he buys 10 of the most powerfull, maxed out elemental skills then hes going to have a major advantage and ALOT of power that a warrior should NOT have.

This could be used to abuse farming!
This could be used to abuse hard-mode!
This would a purely-rich player thing, because the poor couldnt afford to buy dozens of spell scrolls to carry around!

<b>We would end up with a rift of rich players who can carry dozens of skills in their bags, while the poor are limited to their skill bars.</b> Then the rich can go out and solo farm, or beat missions with ease, while the poor cant.

If such a system was put in place, then it has to have limits. You should only be able to carry one scroll at a time and you have to equip it to your skill bar.

But if they put such a limitation in place, then why bother? You might aswell just take a heroe or change your secondary.

Such a system completely removes the point of having a set, secondary profession. You might aswell just let people take any old skills they like from any profession, because thats what will happen.

Such a system is very "rich orientated", because it would be a necessity that only rich players could afford.

I was pointing out a simple example and do not need to be told information that is clearly obvious as an answer.

I did suggest that it could be that you have to equip it in your skill bar. A Warrior has such a pitiful amount of energy, so I cannot see a Wammo running around with high energy spells anyway. And who cares in PvE if you buy everything with the money you farm. Good luck to the farmers, it is something that they have skilled up to do.

Anyway good players do not remain poor for that long. Do a run around Remains of Sahlahja for an hours in hard mode collecting Sunspear and Lightbringer points and you will soon have enough money without farming.

This would be Over good cause of the skills you can get example: A someone with VwK using the scroll to get SoJ... overpowered and if no elite its still cause all the million mesmer and necro hexes you canput on a solo farmer.... like shadow of fear or empathy

There are some rules that can't be broken in this edition of GW:
- Level 20.
- Two professions.
- One elite per skill bar
- 200 attribute points...
- etc...
Maybe for GW2... but not for this one.

NO NO NO

im an ele and i choose to be an ele so i can deal damage, i do not want a monk doing as much damage as me BECAUSE HE IS RICH. if you want to do heavy aoe damage you be an ele if you want to tank you be a war. THIS RUINS THE POINT OF CLASSES AND SECONDARIES CAUSE EVERY ONE CAN BE EVERYONE. whats the point of primary atts if everyone could use it seriously THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR SAYING, this destroys GW at its most basic level making nothing more than an elitist haven with no room for fun. might ass well make everyone LVL 100 WITH ALL SKILLS USABLE AT ALL TIMES. yea this is the worst idea i have ever seen no no no no no no and no

As a mesmer I can get 3 elites on my skill bar and I can run 4 professions, so what is so different to what I am proposing. You still only would have 2 professions where you had spent attribute points, you still would only have 200 attribute points maximum.

Im not suggesting farmers dont have a right to use their gold. They earned it. But do you not see my point?

The farmers and/or rich players are already rich. They already have the edge and would already be able to buy dozens of scroll spells.

Then once they buy dozens of powerfull spells outside of their primary or secondary professions, they are extremely over-powered and advantaged to go out and farm alot easier.

This means those players who find it hard to farm and hard to earn gold, are never going to have the chance to catch up.

That agruement is completely wrong.

I and other players dont enjoy farming. We dont enjoy grinding away endlessly in one location, jus to make gold.

If we used scroll spells - they would be a necessity not a luxary, because they would make PvE alot easier. This would force the poor to spend hours farming, just to make enough gold to buy dozens of scrolls.

Gold they should be spending elsewhere on more important things.

This is the kind of thing Anet wants to avoid. They dont want farming to become a necessity in order to maintain the advantage over other PvE players.

Lets assume you werent restricted to using just one while in a mission or instance....

If people are carrying random spells around with them, which are outside of their builds, which you dont know they have. Then the other team members have no idea what to expect.

You could have a tank or a monk suddenly start using fire storm. You need to know (to a certain extent) what spells/skills to expect to see when doing a mission. If a completely random one goes off, and you dont know who did it, then it could cause chaos.

But even if this was limited to one extra spell per mission or instance, it seems a bit daft if you can only use it once...

How many situations are you going to be in (other then DOD) where you might want to use a completely different spell/skill only once?

If its a defensive or offensive spell, then your going to want more then one shot with it. Otherwise why bother? its not going to make a huge difference.

If its a tacticle skill, like traverse or a running skill the maybe. But even inside DOD, you might miss-use necrotic and end up in the wrong place. But because you only have one shot, you've completely cocked it up. You cant re-use it to escape.

But you cant give someone a spell outside their professions which you can use more then once.

We cant give people spells outside of their primary or secondary professions, or it removes the entire point of builds, and choosing what you want to be.

We also loose control of being able to look at a person and have a rough idea of what kind of build they might be using, if they could suddenly pull a rabbit out their hat and do something strange.

But I dont think your going to agree, so the last im saying.

For 20 or 30 seconds. Not permanently, not more skills the more you can pay and depending on the skills the enemy have
And that's because that is what mesmers do.

Skill copy is one of their specialties.
Some professions can copy effects, such as Necromancer condition transfer or Assasins stance copy, but only Mesmers copy skills.

You want everyone being able to use other professions skills like mesmers?
Then make them primary or secondary mesmers
